I am in a constant state of always trying to improve our home. In an ideal world, I want to fix or improve something before it becomes frustrating… but this time frustration fueled this project.
First, I started looking for spice jars that I liked online. Let’s be real, shopping with a one year old is thrilling and exhausting all at once. I looked on Amazon, at the Container Store, Dollar Tree and World Market. I ended up finding some that I liked at World Market that were in stock plus I had a 15% off coupon, so each jar ended up costing 85 cents.
I wanted jars that were airtight so my spices would stop hardening. Also it was a bonus if I could fit a spoon in the jar! For me, I don’t care if it has sifting top (plastic piece with holes). I am better at measuring and being aware of how much I used if I can use a spoon. Super helpful when following a recipe or trying to keep an eye on how much salt you use.
I started by soaking the jars in a hot bath with dish soap. This also made it super easy to remove all the stickers.
I need to brag about this label maker for a minute. It’s AMAZING. I actually have a fancy Brother Brand label maker that can do all sorts of fancy things… but it takes batteries and the replacement tape is expensive. You can buy this bad boy for about $10.00 and 3 rolls of replacement tape are around $6.00! Plus I love the way it looks! It actually stamps the letters into the tape and is so easy to use!
You can find the spice jars that I used at WorldMarket.com or they were in stock at both stores in Kansas City. The label maker can be ordered online at Amazon.com or sold locally in Kansas City at The Container Store.
Instead of buying more drawer liner, I just used a fun wrapping paper I had in my wrapping stash downstairs. You can find it here at the Container Store or on Amazon.
Don’t live near a World Market? I found some similar spice jars on Amazon. Also posting some others that I really like that were contenders for this project!
Frustration free spice drawer ya’ll- I’m so happy! Please comment or tag me on Instagram if you decide to tackle this project, would love to see how others have tamed this beast of a project!
