Over the years, I have been slowly perfecting this recipe. Adjusting things with each batch I’ve made, trying to find the perfect balance of chewy and crunchy, salty and sweet. These cookies are hands down my husband Justin’s favorite cookie, and I lovingly call him Honeybun, so that’s where they got their name.
These cookies are a quick and easy bake, and you WILL MAKE FRIENDS if you decide to share them. I’ve had countless people ask for the recipe and requests to bring them to family functions and work events. I’ve also made this version with chocolate chips, because I’m partial to chocolate, and they are delicious either way!
The recipe is simple! You probably have most everything you need already in your pantry. Just a tip, you’ll want your butter to be room temperature (I try to set out a couple bars a few hours or the night before I know I’m going to make a batch of cookies).
First I mix all my dry ingredients together, then add the wet ingredients. I save the raisins for last. What’s not written on this recipe card is the sprinkle of cinnamon that I dust on top before I slide these bad boys into the oven.
You’ll want to bake these cookies at 350 degrees. I happen to have a convection oven and these cookies usually take about 8-10 minutes to bake. You want the edges to browned but the center of the cookie to still look a little wet (doughy).
This recipe will become your go-to for cookies, just a warning. Justin jokes that I am just trying to fatten him up so he can’t run away (maybe…) but the truth is, I love him and these cookies make him happy.
