Puppy chow is my weakness. Seriously. I make a batch of this stuff and I can’t let it sit there, all lonely on the counter, begging to be eaten. Also, my husband doesn’t like peanut butter so one less person to share with. This treat is only a few simple ingredients, and peanut butter gives it some protein.
I like my puppy chow with a little extra chocolate (I’m a fan). Here’s what you need:
- 4-6 Cups Chex Cereal
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 1/2 Cups Chocolate Chips (I prefer milk chocolate)
- 1/2 Cup Butter (8 Tablespoons)
- Powdered Sugar
Over medium heat, melt your chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter in a pan. Once smooth and melted, removed from heat and stir in your Chex cereal. I usually start on the smaller side with the amount of Chex (4 cups) and make sure they all get evenly coated. If I have a lot of leftover melted goodness in the pan I’ll add another cup and mix it in. You’ll need a large ziplock bag. I usually put a cup of powdered sugar in the bottom of the bag, spoon in my coated Chex from the pan, dump another cup of powdered sugar on top. Once it’s all in the bag, shake! (Shake it like a Polaroid picture – Optional)
This is the gift that keeps on giving. Spread a little love and share with someone, it will make their day.
