Hello there! Thanks for stopping by! If you’re new, we just bought a little house that needs a little TLC and we’re excited to get started. We sold our house a few months ago and have been living in limbo with my mother-in-law while searching for a home. We’ve put multiple offers on multiple homes, and the market has been crazy with competition. We finally found a foreclosure that would suit our family. Even though it’s small, we see it as cozy and accept the challenge of utilizing the space well. The bathroom and kitchen are the first things we are tackling, because it is easier to tackle those projects when you aren’t living in the house yet.
Let me tell you a little bit about the house. It’s only 700 square foot so we want to make sure we design smart spaces to utilize our living areas. The bathroom is very small, less than 30 square feet, so we want to brighten it up. We’ll be taking down the tub liner and opening a window that was sealed shut to let more natural light in. We’ll also be adding new floor tile, backsplash around the tub, a new vanity and toilet. The subfloor has rotted through into the basement because of poor plumbing installation so it ALL has to come out anyway.
I’ve been in love with brushed brass and decided to take it for whirl with this bathroom remodel. I am also really excited about the floor tile, looks almost hand painted. It’s not bad at less than $5/sq ft. It isn’t kept in stock at Lowe’s but is easily ordered. You can visit the Della Torre website to see the tile in your space, which I’d highly recommend. If you are going to invest in tile for your home, you want to make sure that you like it in your space. You can find the tile here.
I’m a lucky lady in that I have a very handy husband. We are able to do these renovations on a budget because we are doing them ourselves. Here are the links from our design board. I am excited to share the progress with you once we begin! For now, I’ve just began ordering materials and making sure we have a plan set so we’re ready to go when we close on the house next week!
