Okay, so it all started when Edie wanted to have a sleepover at Grammy’s house. This turned into me getting to go out with one of my girlfriends for some adult time, and that led to me seeing her new adorable comforter she got from Target. I told her, girl, I’m going to make a design board for this. Now, I know everyone has their own style, but design boards just help you set a tone for a room and get a feel for what meshes well. This is meant for a little inspiration, she’ll of course make her room her own. I just wanted to have a little fun and get my brain scramble on (all the thoughts swirling around in my head). If she decides she actually likes one of these ideas, I’m totally going to help her knock it out!
Here is the inspo that started this whole post. It’s even cuter in person. You can find the comforter set here at Target. I actually love the way her room is set up, a queen bed can be perfectly placed between her two windows, and giving those windows a pop with a fun window treatment can really help bring the room together. Also, who doesn’t love lots of natural light? She says she always kills plants, but I think if I found her the right plant babies for her nightstands with all that light coming in, she could totally become a plant mama!
Here is the first inspo design board. This was my more expensive design because of the furniture and the rug I chose, but don’t worry, I’ve included two budget friendly designs too. With that being said, this design is still budget friendly, just the most expensive of the three I made.
Here’s my next brain scramble, I mean inspo board. Changing the color tones up a bit but still keeping it neutral. Just a few pops of pink tossed in there to spice it up a bit.
When we were talking, my friend had mentioned that she wanted to do teal as an accent color. I wasn’t sure but when I did the mood board, it totally works and is so cute! It might actually be MY favorite of the three. She had the right idea and gave me the nudge to go outside my comfort zone. I naturally went towards pink with leopard, but also LOVE the teal.
In a perfect world, you design a mood board and you can purchase everything on it and make your room beautiful. Simple and easy right? The reality for most, including myself, is that you shop your home first, scour Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, and piece together rooms as you find things within your budget. You also sprinkle in a little DIY and paint and you can usually bring your vision to light on a budget. The great thing about mood boards is you can zone in on the vibe you want for the room. I had fun staying up way too late last night all because I was inspired by the bedding a girlfriend had bought. Do I think she is going to choose one of these and overhaul her room, NO. She has her own style and taste, but maybe it gave her a little inspiration.
I love my home, and I love decorating and making it ours. I hope I can inspire you to love your home even more, too.
Other fun beds I found around $200:
Another thing I tried on these design boards was adding a pop of hot pink. It was just too much for my taste, but it totally could work if done right! I mean, leopard and hot pink have married to each other for a while now.
And as I was looking at her room, I thought to myself a cute fan would make a huge impact. I am ALL about fans in the bedroom, I like to keep cool myself. In our home, we have a variety of Hunter fans and love them all. Here are some I’d consider for this space:
